Dadio Moriyama
photographers gallery
On the 30th of November we went on a trip up to two different galleries. We started at the Photographers Gallery, to look at Dadio Moriyama's work. I liked how his work quite unusual as some of the pictures weren't focused and often didn't make sense together. I found Dadio's work quite intriguing as the pictures were strange and made me look closely into them to try and work out what i am looking at. However, once I read the description it added context to the pictures. It work was quite dark and often the themes that he focuses on are dull and peculiar. I found his work very interesting as each picture had its own story and were very different from each other. When taking pictures around the gallery of his work, I tried to capture each section in its entirety, instead of taking pictures of each piece individually. I uploaded the best images above, my favourite being in the top far right, as I especially like how the pictures flood onto the other wall, surrounding you when you look at them.
Horoshio Sugimotot
hayward gallery
We then later visited Horoshio Sugimotot's exhibition in the Hayward Gallery. Sugimotot is a Japanese artist who is most famously known for his black and white photographs, that focus on a particular topic or subject. When looking round the gallery, I was drawn to his Theatre Series, as the bright screen in contrast to the darker backgrounds stood out to me. I also liked how each image had a different theatre, some more run down that others, all giving of different tones and moods.
